.when are we.

When you're nearing summer, but it currently feels like winter
you get confused and wear this.

These pictures were taken back in January, when the weather was cooler. Ironically enough, we went through really nice, warm weather, but the days are cold, rainy and gloomy all over again. If you check out my Instagram feed, you will notice a mix of cold and warm weather outfits. Nothing makes sense. Is anyone else just as confused by the weather?

I feel that Instagram is taking over the blogging world. Does anyone else agree? I say this because I have noticed that a lot of bloggers have been posting most of their content on IG. I also haven't seen a lot of recent entries on their websites when compared to their IG page. I am also pointing a finger at myself when I say these things because I haven't been consistent with posting on my blog page either. I do want to give a shout out to those that have been able to balance both platforms. Cheers to you!

IG is such a versatile tool that has been incorporating a lot of the features that we love from other platforms, like Facebook, Snapchat and even YouTube. I believe this is the reason why many users are compelled to use IG a lot more. You can now subscribe to your favorite people and get notifications whenever they go live, or post a new video on IGTV. I don't have this feature on my page because you need 10K followers, but you can also shop directly from an IG story! Remember when disappearing videos were unique to Snapchat? Well, R.I.P. to Snapchat because IG also has this feature. I personally haven't used Snapchat in years! The point that I am trying to make is that IG is an all-in-one app because I have even seen people use it as a blog with their really long captions that continue in the comments section.

It's amazing to me how quickly social platforms evolve. I know that through all of these changes I will still be inspired by your work and hope that I can continue to keep in touch with all of you. So tell me, what is new with you? What have I missed? Let me know which of your posts I need to read because I know I have missed out on some really good ones! Thank you so much for supporting me on IG! I appreciate you!

Much Love,
PerlaGiselle

  1. Yes and not and love and hate. There is also a dark side to IG and there has been a backlash with many people getting fed up with the ever changing algorithm and changing policies. It is owned by FB and MZ and we all know what that is about: fake news, selling peoples data, and fostering conflict.

Many people have been deleting it off their phones like the famous YouTuber Casey Neitstat and companies like LUSH abandoning all social media. I just don't have the energy to constantly relearn a new algorithm or mindless scrolling and liking. It is now becoming more of a chore.

    1. Yes!! I totally feel you!! It's really annoying trying to get up to date with all the constant changes. It's almost like a rat race. I'm slowly learning to not worry about mastering the algorithm. I want to create content when I'm inspired and not because I feel like I have to. Thank you for such an insightful comment!

  4. Love this casual chic look! The leopard is perfect. I stay consistent with my blog and Insta but put more weight on my blog. The Insta algorithm is so unpredictable.

  5. I love IG because I can instantly connect with people see what their life is like behind the photos/post. But I'll be honest, I'm not as into it as other people. I definitely still put my time in my blog and still read blogs. Maybe I'm very old school haha?

  7. You look so adorable in this outfit, Perla. Our weather has been really so rainy and cold lately and I'm so sick of it!
Anyhoo, I do agree that IG is the platform of choice now, but I unfortunately have not used my account in years. I don't do FB either...only Twitter. I'm so out of it! TBH, I just don't have it in me to keep up with all these social media stuff.

  13. You look so effortlessly chic in this outfit! I've also noticed that Instagram seems to be taking over the blogging world and while I can sort of understand it, I don't feel like it can ever be a true replacement for the long form content in blogging because when it comes down to it, Instagram is more about imager and people don't necessarily read and some of us still like to read and get more valuable information that way.

  19. I will forever be more true to my blog than I will be to Instagram. I don't like the changing algorithms, the fast pace and the constant need to keep up. My blog and my You Tube are my main platform, and Instagram will always be just a side thing.

  32. I love this outfit and how can see the leopard print under that sweatshirt! Instagram is my favorite social media platform and it's crazy how much it is growing and changing. I've noticed some people post on their a lot more now and that other's have almost completely stopped posting. But as much as I love it I still post on my blog because I have 100% control over that.

  33. Oh yes, IG is a one-stop shop now, it's hard to keep up. It requires a lot of work to get ahead in it that's why I still prefer the old style blogging where I can express my thoughts and creativity endlessly not caring how many likes would I get. But it's nice to see you back to blogging and in IG too.
