I am usually terrified of wearing neon colors,

but this denim dress from PinkBlush came to the rescue for this particular look.

I was surprised to see a lot of 80's-inspired trends during fall-fashion week, but the one that really caught me off-guard was the return of neon colors. My instinct is to run the opposite direction and avoid overly bright colors. This time I tried to be brave and face the bright, neon beast while wearing my most protective sunglasses. I'm only exaggerating a little, by the way. Lately a lot of celebrities make it seem like it is no big deal dressing up like giant walking highlighters.

If you are like me and don't know where to start when it comes to neon colors, I recommend starting with a neutral outfit and swapping something out for a brighter color. You can start small with an accessory. In this case, I started with this faded black denim overall dress and wore this neon button-up shirt underneath. I think the classic style of the blouse made me feel a little bit more comfortable about wearing such a bright color. The true hero, of course, was the PinkBlush dress that covered most of the neon and helped balanced the look.

If I ever end up owning a large neon item, such as a dress, I will most likely wear nude shoes and accessories because I cannot imagine adding more color to a full-on neon outfit. I love seeing these colors on everyone else, but I have such a hard time styling them on myself. I am unsure whether we will be seeing more neon this fall, or if it is going to stay on the runway. I am just happy PinkBlush always has really cute maternity dresses that I can wear after pregnancy and in this case, help me slay the neon beast. 

I wore two different shades of pink lipstick for an ombre effect on the lips and added some gunmetal accessories like this snakeskin purse and earrings. The boots also had gunmetal accents, but I made the mistake of forgetting to photograph them. You will have to use your imagination and visualize gunmetal studs on the sides of the boots that matched the purse. Did you picture them in your head? Okay, let's move on. 

I hope my baby doesn't like neon colors when she's older!

Life update: I want to thank everyone for wishing me well on my last glucose test. I truly appreciate your kind words! The doctor's office just informed me that my results were inconclusive and I will have to go back to take the test again. This means that I have to fast, drink a really nasty sugary liquid, have my blood drawn every hour three times and hope the nurse does not make blood gush out of my vein again. The bruises from my last exam have just cleared and I hope that after this I can finally get a clear result. I have to remind myself that it is all for a good cause and I have less than 6 weeks left until my due date. Time flies.
