Do you have goals for the new year, but need help staying on track?
I got you boo! I'm going to share some tips that have done wonders for me.

This post contains affiliate links, which you can read about here.

Let me start by saying that I just started using planners again last year. I was all about using planners consistently and took a break from them after college as if they did something wrong to me. Let's fast forward to March 2020 (yes, a little late, but this is a judge-free zone) when I started writing down all of my hopes and dreams and became hooked on my planner. Despite COVID-19 derailing the majority of my plans, I still felt a lot more focused and motivated than previous years thanks to my lovely planner. Here are my recommendations so that you can use your planner consistently and stay on track to accomplish your goals.

1. First and foremost, get yourself a nice planner!

I mean it, treat yourself! I currently love Erin Condren Life Planners and they just came out with a really cute Hello Kitty collection, which you will see more pictures of in this post. Before I stepped back into the wonderful world of planners, it had been so long since I had last purchased a planner for myself that I couldn't justify paying more than $30 for a notebook that I probably wasn't going to use in the first place. I was so wrong and I am glad I took that first step because the beautiful covers, monthly motivational quotes and productivity pages will have you hooked!

2. Okay, you have your brand-new planner. Now what?

Jump right in! Write down all of your goals. Yes ALL of them! No goal is too silly, too big or too small. In fact, you will be surprised how many of them you will be able to achieve just because you to the time to write them down.

3. Don't know where to start?

Don't worry if you feel that you have too many goals! I recommend prioritizing the goals that would have a greater impact on your life. I like to stick to one or two at the most just to help me focus a bit more.

4. You have probably heard this before...

In order to help accomplish those goals, you have to break them down into smaller, more achievable goals. The more realistic you are and the more specific you are, the better! You will be making progress before you even know it!

5. Expect challenges and obstacles.

Once you hit a bump on the road, instead of becoming discouraged or overwhelmed, take this opportunity to reset and clear your mind. I always end up doing something crafty, or doing my nails lol. Make sure you allow yourself to be flexible and do whatever works for you. This will help reduce stress and help you to get back on track as soon as you are ready.

6. Have fun and make it yours!

Your planner can be a place of serious business, but also something that you look forward to using frequently. Use a lot of color, draw whatever your little heart desires, document the good things that happened to you that day, week, month, etc! Your planner can be your creative outlet as well as your new bff that you can vent to without breaking social distancing guidelines.

I hope these tips help you crush your goals this year. I have no idea why I went so long without using a planner, but I promise that if you try to use yours consistently and have fun doing it, you will not regret your decision! I mentioned the Erin Condren Life Planners earlier in this post, but they also have Teacher Planners, Wedding Planners and a New Kid's Collection. There is truly something for everyone and you can get $10 off your first purchase of $40 or more using the code RAKUTEN10.

By the way, how cute is the NEW Erin Condren x Hello Kitty Collection? I don't know what it is about having cute stationery and planners that make me want to check things off my to-do list! My favorite item is the Hello Kitty Kindness and Joy Journal. I think it's perfect because I am all for practicing positivity and spreading kindness. Let me know what your thoughts are on the Erin Condren x Hello Kitty Collection.

Thank you so much for stopping by and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Much Love,
Perla Giselle

  6. It is great that you started using planners again. It might be hard to make full use of it this year, but it is possible. I am big on getting a planner that you will love - it is a year of dedication you must go through. Love that your planner has different prompts to guide you through a better life. Oooh the Erin Condren x HK collection is so cute!!! Makes me kind of want to start buying that again LOL.

  23. Oooh Perlita, no había visto que habías vuelto al blog, welcome back! I am happy to see you here since sometimes keeping track of everything on Instagram could be difficult.

I really love what you're saying about new projects and the way to achieve them, but everything is possible with a realistic organization project, like the one you're sharing with us. And it sounds silly, but if you're keeping track of your activities in a pretty way (agenda, markers, stickers) it really keeps you motivated during the year.

Hope to see you here more often!

    Take care!
