A Power-Packed Anniversary at Universal Studios Hollywood's Power Up Cafe

A year ago I was invite to a media event to Super Nintendo World before its official opening to the public. Fast forward a year later and I am stuffing my face at a tasting event at the Power Up Cafe, which officially opens on February 15th.

Is this real life?!?!?
Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up for an exciting celebration as it marks the first anniversary of Super Nintendo World, which officially opened its doors on February 17, 2023. As part of the festivities, the much-anticipated Power Up Cafe on New York Street has made its debut, offering a unique culinary experience inspired by the beloved Super Mario franchise. Having had the pleasure of attending a media tasting event at the Power Up Cafe, I can't wait to share the delightful details of this one-of-a-kind celebration.

The Power Up Cafe:

Situated on the top floor of the theme park, the Power Up Cafe is an innovative grab-and-go concept that beckons visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of Super Nintendo World. This permanent cafe is not just a dining spot but an experience, allowing guests to indulge in a specially crafted menu featuring Super Mario Power Up themed items.

Menu Highlights:

During the media tasting event, I had the pleasure of sampling some of the cafe's standout offerings, and my taste buds were in for a treat! The Super Mushroom Calzone stole the show with its mushroom-shaped goodness, featuring a delectable filling of pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. Equally delightful was the 1-UP Mushroom Calzone (my personal favorite), a vegetarian delight filled with spinach, green pepper, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and basil pesto.

For those craving something a bit more adventurous, the Fire Flower Pretzel provided a savory twist. This fire flower-shaped pretzel was served with chipotle cheese, mustard, and white cheese sauces, creating a flavorful experience that lived up to its Super Mario inspiration. And who could resist the whimsical Super Star Popcorn, with its buttery goodness covered in edible glitter?

Quenching Thirst with Power-Packed Drinks:

The Power Up Cafe doesn't just stop at delicious bites – their drink menu is equally impressive. During the tasting event, I had the pleasure of sipping on some uniquely crafted beverages. The Super Mushroom Fizz, a lemon-lime soda with strawberry pearls and a Strawberry Super Mushroom Power Up, stood out as a refreshing and flavorful choice. Equally refreshing was the 1-UP Mushroom Fizz, featuring lemon-lime soda with green apple and lime pearls, truly capturing the essence of a 1-Up Mushroom Power Up.

Another favorite among friends was the Fire Flower Fizz, a lemon-lime soda with orange pearls and Mango Habanero Fire Flower Power Up, providing a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Last but not least, the Super Star Fizz, a lemon-lime soda with lemon pearls and Mango Pineapple Super Star Power Up, offered a tropical twist that left me wanting more.

As Universal Studios Hollywood celebrates the first anniversary of Super Nintendo World, the Power Up Cafe adds an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. The thoughtful and imaginative menu truly captures the essence of the beloved Super Mario universe. From mouth-watering calzones to whimsical drinks, the Power Up Cafe is a must-visit destination for gamers, food enthusiasts, and anyone looking to indulge in a bit of Power Up magic. Don't miss the chance to level up your dining experience at Universal Studios Hollywood's Power Up Cafe on the upper level!

  13. Sounds and looks like a fabulous event. All the goodies you had sound delicious to me but I am curious about the edible glitter, it melts when eaten, doesn’t cause problems when swallowing?
